How to fluff a pillow

Quality bedding directly affects a comfortable sleep. This, in turn, provides a light rash, rest of the body, and cheerfulness in the morning. It is very important not only to choose a suitable pillow, but also to monitor its condition, since poor-quality or compacted filler can cause fatigue, headaches and pain in the cervical spine. In this article, we have picked up tips on how to fluff the pillow correctly, depending on the type of filler.

Why fluff the pillow?

In addition to periodically changing pillowcases and washing the filler, it is important to whisk the pillow from time to time, trying to spread the fibers on all sides and fill them with air. As already mentioned, you should avoid tracking, as excessive hardness or flatness can negatively affect the quality of sleep and your health.

How to fluff a pillow correctly

The process of whipping a pillow is much like kneading a dough. This procedure is quite simple:

To beat the pillow, you need to tuck the filler with two hands closer to the center (this can be done with both palms and fists) and immediately knead it, leveling all the lumps and lumps. Carefully walk around the entire perimeter of the product to evenly distribute the filler and give it its original shape. If necessary, turn the pillow over and repeat the procedure.

However, it should be borne in mind that there are many variants of filler on sale, some of which have their own nuances.

Made from hollofayber

If the hollofayber balls have stuck together during long-term use, the following measures should be taken:

  1. Remove the filler from the thimble. As a rule, in most modern products there is a hole with a zipper, which makes it easier to extract. If there is no such hole, then the thimble will have to be cut open.
  2. Prepare two brushes, the first of which is a regular massage brush, and the other is a special comb that combs thick pet hair.
  3. Distribute the tangled hollofayber on a massage brush and gently comb through it with a comb, removing lumps.

Made of bamboo

Despite the formidable name, this material looks more like cotton or sintepon, and the pillows themselves are soft, light and voluminous.

However, bamboo has disadvantages, namely fast creasing and sensitivity to moisture. In the process of use, the fibers get lost, get heavier, and the pillow loses its shape. If the pillow of bamboo is broken, it can be easily corrected by regularly beating the filler, after which the fibers will again stand up voluminous and elastic.

From Swan’s down

Nowadays, artificial Swan down is produced, since the use of natural down is impractical and uneconomical. This material is very light and airy, well resists compaction. Usually, with constant use, the pillow from such a filler does not lose its shape and does not crumple, but it is still recommended to periodically shake it with your hands before going to bed.

From sintepon

It is quite difficult to beat the compacted sintepon, since it becomes very flat and hard, and it is difficult to return to the original form. You can try to pull out the filler and fluff it, expand it with your hands, paying attention to the parts that have become particularly caked.

How to fluff a feather pillow

The feather pillow has many advantages, but the naturalness of the composition can lead to the fact that harmful microorganisms will accumulate and multiply inside the filler. Thus, it should be whipped as often as possible, as this prevents caking and clumping. If the feathers are very much strayed and compressed, emit a smell, and even washing does not bring them to normal, then such a pillow should be replaced. Whipping in this case is already powerless.

How to fluff a pillow after washing

A different composition of filler has different requirements for washing. The easiest way to take care of artificial fibers, while drying their material should be whipped every hour. The most difficult will be hand-washing feathers, they should be placed in special bags, and then, drying, also regularly whisk.

How to fluff a pillow

If the pillow for sleeping is simply compacted and compressed, then you need to take hold of its sides and make several movements, as on an accordion, squeezing and unclenching its filler, simultaneously kneading it with your hands. If necessary, repeat the process from different sides several times.
If it is crumpled into lumps inside, then you can correct the situation by combing the filler (fluff, hollofayber, etc.) with manual chesks (metal brushes).

How to fluff up the batting in the cushion

It happens that after washing the filler out of a hollowfiber or polyester batting can be very hard to lose. In such a situation, you should soak it and gently beat it off with your hands, and then send it to dry and whisk it again periodically.

You can also try to move the lumps with a vacuum cleaner, walking them on a wet surface. In an extreme case, you simply need to disassemble and fluff all the fibers of the sintepon with your hands.

In General, we can say that there is nothing complicated about taking care of pillows. It is only important not to forget to beat it regularly, preventing the formation of lumps and seals, otherwise it will be somewhat more difficult to beat the material that has formed.
